  13. Prepare 20 Red chilli
  14. Take 1/2 cup Toovar dal
  15. Prepare 1/4 cup Bengal gram
  16. Make ready 3 tbsp Black pepper
  17. Prepare 1 tbsp Jeera
  18. Get 1 tbsp Fenugreek seeds
  19. Make ready 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  20. Take 2 tbsp Curry leaves
  21. Take To Temper:
  22. Get 2 tbsp Gingelly oi
  23. Make ready 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  24. Get 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  25. Get 2 no Red chilies
  26. Take 5 Garlic chopped
  27. Prepare 1 tbsp Channa dal
  28. Take 2 tsp Peanuts
  29. Get 1 tsp Urad dal

Manathakkali (Makoy in Hindi) in English is 'Black Nightshade', 'Sun Berry', or 'Wonder Berry'. Its a small dark fruit, which the plant bears and is really good to taste and has immense Manathakkali Vatha Kuzhambu is made with sun dried black nightshade berries.   1. Soak tamarind in hot water for 20 minutes. squeeze the pulp and keep aside.

  3. In iron kadai or you can use anyother. But iron kadai taste much good. Heat gingelly oil once hot add mustard seeds. Once mustard done crackling add fenugreek seeds, red chilli, channa dal, peanuts, urad dal, hing and curry leaves. Cook until all dals turns golden brown.
  4. Add manathakkali vathal and roast for couple of minutes in low flame. Now add vathakuzhambu powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder, grated ginger and chopped tomato. Saute for 5 minutes in low flame.
  5. Now add tamarind water and salt. Cover and cook in medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes until oil separates from the gravy. Stir occasionally.
  6. Now add jaggery and cook for another 2 minutes. Add ghee and adjust the salt.
  7. Switch off the flame and serve hot with rice, papad..
