- Soak and keep chana dal for an hour.
- In a pressure cooker,take oil and add bay leaf,black cardamom and cinnamon stick.
- Add chopped onion and saute it till brown.
- Add grated ginger and saute for a minute. add chopped tomato and saute again.
- Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder,red chilli powder and garam masala powder and saute till tomato is soft.
- Peel and chop bottle gourd and add it to the pressure cooker along with the dal.
- Saute it for 1-2 mins and then add water to make as much gravy as required.
- Pressure cook for 2 whistles and then on low flame for 10 minutes. Serve hot with rice and potatoes.
