It taste amazing when served piping hot. Super delicious and my all time favourite momos recipes. Serve it hot with some spicy chilli chutney and you are in heaven. Taste amazing that you have to try it for sure. (Pics updated).
Steps to make Chicken/Veg momos with chilli garlic sauce :):
- For Chilli Garlic Sauce: Cut the red chillies and garlic and soak them in lemon juice for one to two hours. Put these ingredients with little water and 1 tbsp oil in a mixer and grind to a smooth paste.
- For Chicken/Veg filling: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan and put garlic paste and chopped onion and fry until onion translucent. Add minced chicken or grated vegetables, pepper powder and salt to taste. Cook it for 10 minutes and turn off the gas. Keep aside.
- For Momos: Knead maida, baking powder and salt together into a firm dough. Cover and keep aside for 30 minutes. Roll the dough into very thin 4-5 inch rounds. Take each round piece and place some generous filling in the center.
- Then bring the edges together and twist to seal it. Steam in a steamer for about 10 minutes and serve hot with chilly sauce. Enjoy this delicacy of North East :)
I had this Veg momos with garlic chutney in my friend's house. She prepared both steamed & deep fried Momos. Generally Momos are prepared only with Maida/All purpose flour. Chinese chilli garlic sauce is also known as 'cili garam'. This hot chilli sauce is a spicy condiment which is very versatile.
