  1. Make ready 300 g Lean Minced Beef,
  2. Get 1/2 of 1ft French Roll
  3. Prepare 1 whisked egg
  4. Prepare 2 tbsp Panko Breadcrumbs,
  5. Make ready Canned Crushed Tomatoes
  6. Prepare 1 small white onion, grated
  7. Prepare 3 small garlic gloves, grated
  8. Make ready 1/2 tbsp Tomato purée,
  9. Make ready 1 tbsp Olive Oil,
  10. Make ready 1/4 cup Grated Parmigiano,
  11. Make ready 1 tbsp Freshly chopped parsley,
  12. Get 2 tsp Chilli powder,
  13. Make ready to taste, Salt
  14. Make ready to taste,  Black Pepper

The meatballs for this sandwich were so tender and juicy! I was worried they might dry out in the crock pot, but they were moist and had a lot of flavor. I served these on whole wheat french rolls, but next time I think I'll serve them. These meatball subs are so simple to make and the perfect way to use up leftover meatballs.

Steps to make Meatball sub:
  1. Preheat oven at 160 dc
  2. In a bowl combine mince, whisked egg, breadcrumbs, grated onion, grated garlic, 1/2 tbsp of fresh parsley, chilli powder, salt and black pepper.
  3. Using clean hands, mix the ingredients of the bowl together making sure they are well incorporated into the mince.
  4. Roll your mixed minced into 1 inch balls or smaller. (you want to get at least 8 balls).
  5. Once all the mince is rolled into balls, place them onto a lightly oiled oven tray and place the tray into the oven.
  6. Increase the heat to 190 dc and bake the meatballls for 20 minutes, turning half way.
  7. While the meatballs are baking…
  8. In a small saucepan, heat 1tbsp of olive oil and pour in the crushed tomatoes.
  9. Add tomato purée, 1/4 cup water, lightly salt and black pepper. Stir and cover the saucepan and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 10 minutes.
  10. Remove the lid from the saucepan and stir, add baked meatballs, 1 tsp of chopped parsley and allow to simmer with the lid off for 5 minutes before removing from the heat.
  11. Cut the roll open at the top and place in the oven for 3 minutes at 170 dc.
  12. Fill the roll with the meatball sauce and top with cheese.
  13. Place the filled sub back into the oven for 1 minute or until the cheese has melted.
