Well… I am guilty of the fact that I am shamelessly, completely addicted to blogging. Chole bhature (Hindi: छोले भटूरे) is a food dish originating from northern India. Known as "Halwa Puri" in Pakistan, it is a combination of chana masala (spicy white chickpeas) and bhatura/Puri. Chole-bhature is one of those few things that are worth the calories!
Instructions to make Chole Buns:
- Take 1 cup lukewarm milk, 1 tbsp sugar and 2 tsp dry yeast in a bowl.
- Leave it for 15 minutes so it becomes frothy.
- In a big bowl take all purpose flour and add salt.
- Add 1 and half tbsp olive oil in proofed yeast.
- Add proofed yeast and oil mix in All purpose flour.
- Knead a soft dough from all ingredients.
- After kneading cover and leave it for 2 hours.
- In a pressure cooker take soaked white peas and onions.
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and ginger garlic paste.
- Cook it for 4-5 whistles or till it becomes soft and then add chaat massla..
- After cook lightly mash chole with spoon.
- Make 8 big size balls from the dough.
- Stuff chole in dough balls and close it.
- Place on greased baking tray for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes it becomes double in size.
- Mix some butter in milk and brush it on dough balls, and sprinkle some sesame seeds over balls.
- Bake buns on 200 degree for 15 minutes.
- After baking buns immediately brush butter on top of buns.
- Soft chole buns are ready.
