The ingredients needed to make Fish curry:
  1. Prepare 500 gms any fish of your choice
  2. Take 1 cup coconut milk
  3. Take 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  4. Get 1 large and 2 tomatoes onion pureed
  5. Take Salt, pepper and chilli powder as per taste
  6. Make ready 1 tsp coriander powder
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  8. Prepare 1 tsp tamarind paste (optional)
  9. Prepare Water as required

This is the favorite fish curry dish from the eastern part of India. I learned this recipe from my mother-in-law, who is a master in cooking this recipe. India has lots of coastline, so it's no surprise that fish and seafood are common ingredients in Indian curries. Goa, the smallest state in India, located on the western coast.

Instructions to make Fish curry:
  1. In a sauce pan mix together onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, coconut milk, coriander, chilli and pepper powder, add water to obtain the desired consistency
  2. Place sauce pan on medium heat and let the mixture cook, stir occasionally, once the gravy starts boiling turn heat to low and continue cooking until gravy slightly changes color, check for seasoning add fish and let it continue cooking until fish is cooked, stir in tamarind paste if using, turn heat off and let it rest for 10 before serving.
  3. If not using tamarind paste, you could use juice of a lime, stir in just before serving.
