  2. Get 1 frozen deep dish pie crust (9")

  4. Take 3 fresh eggs

  6. Get 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  7. Get 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter (salted is ok)
  8. Make ready 1 zest and juice of 1 small lemon
  9. Get 1 tsp vanilla extract
  10. Get 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg

I followed the recipe exactly and my pie came out perfect. Buttermilk Pie is a classic pie recipe well loved for generations in my family. A custardy pie that comes together quickly and easily with a light texture and a slight tangy flavor. Buttermilk Pie is an old-fashioned Southern favorite.

Instructions to make Texas Buttermilk Pie:
  1. Beat together sugar and eggs until mixture is light yellow in color.
  2. Add in flour and mix to combine well.
  3. Add buttermilk, melted butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Mix to combine well. You can substitute 2 teaspoons of bottled lemon juice if you don't have a lemon.
