- Make ready 1 cup roughly chopped fresh coconut or coconut boora
- Prepare 3/4 cup fresh curd or 1 tablespoon of you have sour curd
- Take to taste Salt
- Take 1/2 tsp black salt
- Make ready as required Lemon juice or tamarind paste
- Prepare 1 tbsp chana dal
- Take 2 green chilies

- Take 1 tsp oil
- Take 3-4 dried red chilies
- Take 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Prepare 4-5 curry leaves
To make this delicious Coconut Chutney recipe, grind grated coconut, green chillies, chana dal, ginger, tamarind and salt in a blender. Make sure that its consistency is thick and not too thin. Take grated coconut, ginger, garlic, green chillies, roasted peanuts and salt in a small chutney jar of a food processor or grinder. Grind them together until medium coarse texture.
Instructions to make Nariyal chutney / coconut chutney:
- Soak chana dal for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes wash dal properly. Spread chana dal on a kitchen napkin for 2 minutes. Now dry roast it on high flame till roast perfectly. Let cool it completely.
- In a mixer jar take the coconut, chana dal, curd and salt together grind it in a smooth paste. Put some water in batches according to your requirement.
- Add lemon juice or tamarind pulp and grind well. (If required) adjust consistency. Pour it in a bowl.
- Heat oil in a tadka pan, put mustard seeds, curry leaves and dried red chilies, saute for a minute on medium heat. Pour it on chutney bowl.
- Delicious nariyal chutney is ready to serve. Serve with idli, dosa or medu vada.
