- Prepare 1 cup Semolina (sooji)
- Make ready 1/4 cup Curd/ Yogurt

- Prepare 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
- Prepare 2 tbsp crushed poppy seeds
- Make ready 1/4 tsp Black sesame seeds
- Prepare 1/4 tsp White sesame seeds
- Make ready 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
- Prepare 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- Take 3-4 curry leaves chopped
- Prepare 3 tbsp Oil
- Get 1/2 cup water
- Take to taste Salt
I have been eyeing on this recipe for quite sometime now. This savoury cake is spongy, crispy on the edges and replete with the textures of the vegetables. Mix together the semolina, yoghurt, water. Semolina savory cake is so easy make and tastes very delicious.
Steps to make Savoury Semolina Cake:
- In a mixing bowl add the curd, baking soda, mix well and keep aside for about 5 mins.
- In the curd mixture add the semolina, baking powder, salt as per taste, water and mix well. Keep aside while you make the other ingredients ready.
- In a sauce pan heat 1 tbsp of oil. Add the sesame seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves and let it crackle. Remove from heat and pour this over the semolina mixture.
- Now add the remaining ingredients, mix them well and make a batter.
- Preheat oven @180° for 10 mins. Grease a cake pan and keep aside.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and tap the pan for couple of times.
- Bake it in the preheated oven for 30-35 mins. A toothpick inserted should come our clean. Mine took exactly 30 mins.
- Remove from oven, let it cool down, invert, cut and serve.
It is healthy and makes a perfect tea time snack. It also makes a light breakfast. This savory cake is crispy at the edges, spongy in the middle and full of vegetables. This semolina cake hails from the Gujarati community but it's an easier version as there is no soaking and grinding. The cake is ready when a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and when the edges are crisp.
