- Firstly, preheat oven to 200c. start with the breadcrumbs, remove the crust and blitz a few slices of bread. I used about 3 slices of thick white bread.
- Next line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Transfer the bread crumbs to a bowl and add garlic and 1 tbsp of olive oil, Season will with salt and mix well.
- Transfer to baking tray and spread evenly. Bake for about 8 minutes. Once done set aside.
- Next cook the pasta following pasta instructions. Add some salt to the water.
- Pour the remaining olive oil into a frying pan and fry the onions and garlic for 3-5 minutes or until soft.
- Next add the wine and lemon zest, season well with salt and pepper. Allow the liquid to cook down.
- In a separate pan fry the bacon until crispy.
- Add the creme fraiche to the frying pan and bacon. Remove from heat but cover with lid so it stays warm.
- Add the cabbage to the pasta water for for the last 3-5 minutes depending how cooked you prefer the cabbage.
- Drain the pasta and cabbage well, then return to the pan.
- Add the creamy mixture to the pasta and toss well together until evenly coated.
- To serve top with the breadcrumbs previously made.
