Instructions to make Chana dal halwa:
  1. Wash and boil the chana dal in a pot with enough water just above the dal level. Once boiled dry on high flame to reduce the water. Cool and grind to a fine texture. Check pic for reference.
  2. Heat 1 cup ghee in a kadhai add badi elaichi and long in it. Then add the ground dal to it. Roast on high flame for 5 mins. Then add 1 cup sugar at a time. Mix well. Keep adding ghee and sugar in small quantities. And keep stiring continuously. Chana dal halwa has a tandency to get burnt from below. So keep a check.
  3. Add milk when it becomes difficult to stir… this wl loosen the texture of the halwa. Cook for about 30 mins. U wl start getting nice aroma and colour. Then add the chopped dry fruits and mix well. Serve in small bowls and varnish with chopped pistas.
