Probably my easiest liqueur recipe and very good. Since it's made with DRIED apricots, it can be made year-round. A combination of tart fresh apricots and sweet dried apricots make for the tasty and complex homemade apricot liqueur.

The ingredients needed to make Apricot liqueur:
  1. Prepare 150 apricot kernels
  2. Get 1 kg sugar
  3. Get 1 l brandy

The season for fresh apricots is short and one way of extending the enjoyment of these wonderful fruits is in this apricot liqueur recipe. The liqueur is so simple to make and come the dark winter months when you open the bottle, you'll be so glad you did. The liqueur is ready after a month, but is best kept for several so the flavors can blend. I was very happy this past week to see that fresh local apricots have started to arrive in our local markets.

Steps to make Apricot liqueur:
  1. Break the kernels and get the seeds that are inside.
  2. Seal all the ingredients safely in a jar and shake it well to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Set it aside in a sunny spot in the balcony or the garden.
  4. About 1 1/2 - 2 months later, filter and store in a nice bottle.

Apricots are the first stone fruit to come, and we must wait another month or more for the rest, peaches, plums, and nectarines to follow. Pour the filtered liqueur into a glass container and seal it. Don't forget to shake the container daily. Filter the contents once again and squeeze the pulp by hand. apricot liqueur: almost as good as an aged port :::: Every time I see apricots appear in season, my first instinct is to buy as many as possible. Admittedly, I have a variety of recipes sitting around that I'd like to try: this apricot tart , a smattering of apricot jams, and even grilled apricots (nevermind I don't own a grill at the moment).
