  1. Put 2 slices of bread in a large frying pan that has its own lid,then give a tablespoon of olive oil too each One slice of bread and then use the back of the spoon too spread the olive oil all over the One side - do it with both and then turn the sliced bread over.
  2. Slice the Cheddar cheese into fairly thin slices and give 30g of the cheese too each slice of bread and then place the thin ham slices - 2 on each - too the sliced bread.Put the other 2 slices of bread on top and very slowly fry the bread on One side - keeping the lid on - for the cheese and ham too easily cook and melt inside the 2 sandwiches.
  3. Before turning over the sandwiches,press the bread down on each of the sandwiches and then apply the tablespoons of olive oil too each of the other slices of bread on top - then turn over - too crisp the other sides,making sure it's always on a very low simmer whilst the lid is on.
  4. Then get them out of the Frying Pan and serve on a plate,is a good idea too take a slice of the bread off in order too cool the sandwich down before eating.

Top with Swiss cheese and ham. Spread the unbuttered side of the second slice of bread with mayonnaise and mustard. Place it butter-side up on top of the sandwich. Place the hot figs over the toasts and drizzle with the hot juices from the pan. Top with a good drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt and the slices of ham.
