Remove from heat; cool pears in syrup to room temperature. Remove the pears with a slotted spoon and put in a colander to drain. Pickled pears are ever so easy to make, all they need is a little time. Make them ahead of Christmas for a wonderful accompaniment to cold cuts or as a unique gift.

Steps to make Pickled Pears:
  1. Peel, quarter & core
  2. Add all ingredients to pan & bring to a simmer. When sugar is melted add pears & simmer gently for 10mins
  3. Pick out pears & place in sterilised jar. Bring liquid to a rapid boil & reduce by half
  4. Once reduced pour liquid over pears & seal jar…

Cover pears with boiling syrup, leaving ยฝ-inch headspace and making sure pears are covered by the syrup. This year I picked an over abundance of pears.
