To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can cook breadsticks using 6 ingredients and 1 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make Breadsticks:
  1. Make ready 2 1/4 tsp Yeast
  2. Get 1 Tablespoons honey
  3. Prepare 1 1/2 cup warm water
  4. Take 1 Tablespoons powdered milk
  5. Make ready 1 rsp salt
  6. Prepare 3-3 1/2 cups flour

Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed just until moistened. Make dough using your favorite method- bread machine, mixer or by hand. Let any left over cool and store in an airtight container. Meanwhile, combine butter, salt and garlic powder in a small bowl.

Steps to make Breadsticks:
  1. Mix first three ingredients and let soften. Add remaining ingredients and mix into soft dough (mix for 10 minutes). Divide into 12 pieces and roll into desired shape. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with butter, sprinkle tops with parmesan cheese, garlic salt and parsley. Let rise for 20 minutes. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes. Brush tops again with butter after removing from oven. These can be stuffed with meat and cheese.

Remove breadsticks from oven and immediately brush with butter mixture. My breadsticks were just as you described- it was soft yet chewy throughout. I didn't get the golden crust though- my bread was done before it has the chance to brown at the top. (The bottom was a different issue however, it was really browned but not bitter thank goodness. Cover, rise, and bake as directed. Rub some butter on top of the breadsticks (just put a ziploc bag on your hand, grab some softened butter, and have at it) and sprinkle with garlic bread seasoning or the powdery Parmesan cheese in a can and garlic salt.
