Sukto is a Bengali dish native to the land of Kolkata famous for other delicious recipes. Sukto is a vegetarian Indian recipe and is famous comfort food of Kolkata. The recipe is a mix of many vegetables and altogether they impart a unique flavour to this whole dish when cooed with urad dal.

Sukto is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It is easy, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions daily. Sukto is something which I have loved my whole life. They’re nice and they look fantastic.

The ingredients needed to make Sukto:
  1. Get 3 bitter gourd
  2. Prepare 1 sweet potato
  3. Prepare 1/4 portion raw banana
  4. Make ready 1/4 portion a raw pspaya
  5. Make ready 1/2 brinjal
  6. Make ready 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  7. Take 1/2 tsp celery seeds paste
  8. Take To taste salt and sugar
  9. Make ready As needed oil for frying
  10. Prepare As needed water for boilng

We Bongs; treat Shukto as a special dish and we have it on occasion like Marriage, Birthday etc. but as part of Lunch only. It's a Bengali Mixed vegetarian dish comprising of several veggies inclusive of Bitter Guard, Eggplant, Green Banana, Potato, Sweet potato, Drumsticks, White radish and Hyacinth Beans. Sukto is a traditional Bengali recipe. It is also popular in Bangladesh.

Steps to make Sukto:
  1. Cut all the veggies
  2. Heat oil in a pan add the veggies and saute for a while
  3. Add salt and turmeric powder and cover
  4. Now add water and cover till it starts getting tender
  5. Once the veggies become tender add the ginger and celery seeds pasteix well.
  6. The sukto is ready to be served

It goes best with steamed rice. Traditionally this is taken at the start of the main meal. The vegetables used to prepare sukto is available throughout the year. Sukto is a traditional Bengali dish made many vegetables & at least one bitter vegetable with a pinch of sugar to adjust the bitterness. Without this typical Bengali menu is just incomplete.
