  16. Take as needed water

While the chana dal is soaking, I make a masala of tomatoes and onions in the pot. Saying 'Bengal gram dal' refers to the product, not the chick pea itself. While 'gram' is a collective term for grain legumes, similarly 'dal. Punjabi chana dal recipe, just like my mom made growing up!

  1. Saok the chana dal for 2 hours and cook in the pressure cooker for 2 whistle

  3. In a pan put oil and ghee and heat it then add jeera, hing, bay leaf, dalchini, red dry chilli, and garlic &ginger paste, and fry for 1 minutes then add green chilli curry leaves onion fry for 2 minutes and add tomatoes and all dry masala and salt and mix well and cook for 5 minutes upto tomatoes are soft.
  4. Then add boiled chana dal and cook for5 minutes and garam masala and chopped coriander leaves and off the flame.
  5. Chana dal is ready sew with naan and jeera rice.
