- Add a glass of water with cooking soda. Cooking soda helps to retain the colour of the beans. If you guys don't want it you can add pinch of sugar instead of soda. Close with lid and cook. It will be ready in 5 minutes. - - 5. After all the water evaporates add the masala saute nicely till masala coats all over the place. Fry nicely and serve with any main course. Stir fry for a couple minutes. Sprinkle turmeric and add the boiled/steamed beans. Stir fry adding the ground masala. Add salt as needed and remove from fire. Serve as a side dish along with rice and Dal/Sambar.
